Dome and DragonCon 2009

I received my 300mm Dome a few months ago. I haven't done a thing to it yet, but now that I'm more or less finished moving into my new place and have a spare room to work in maybe I'll start making progress on at least the dome for R2.

I got to meet a couple of the other r2builders at DragonCon this year and they were all real cool to talk with, hopefully I'll remember their names next time I see them on the r2builders mailing list or Astromech.net. If I have R2's dome partially constructed to my liking, then I'm thinking I might joing them at the robot table next year at DragonCon.

Logic Displays

Got my Logic Displays several months back, the Rear Logic Display arrived a few weeks after the rest of the order. The RLD had gotten accidently left out of the box when it was shipped, but Scott Gray was awesome about getting them to me so quickly.

I’ve placed the LEDs for the RLD, now I’ve got to clip the ends of the LEDs and solder them in place.

More bits of R2

I’ve received my aluminum coin slots a few months back.
Got on the order list for the Logic Displays, I should be up soon on the shipping list but still haven’t heard when it’s going to ship.
Made my down payment on the 300mm Dome for R2. Can’t wait til that arrives in December or January. At least the dome will look like something easily recognizable as R2.

Parts collecting

So here are the first parts I’ve bought for building myself a R2-D2. These are the Front Logic Surrounds and Rear Logic Surrounds.

Next up are the Logic Displays that are attached to these surrounds and hopefully another 300mm Dome run will occur this year and I can get on the list for that.
